St. Peter’s Ministry to the Sick and Homebound provides a supportive, compassionate, listening presence and are another face of St. Peter’s Church reaching out to those experiencing the transitions and challenges of illness, suffering, aging, and dying. As an outreach of our church community, this ministry helps to maintain or reconnect homebound parishioners’ ties to St. Peter’s Parish.
Pastoral volunteers are assigned on a one-to-one basis to parishioners whose circumstances such as age or illness prevent them from active participation in parish life. Volunteers receive training about the nature of pastoral visiting and reassurance about presenting the face of St. Peter’s to the shut-in. Volunteers are asked to visit twice each month.
This ministry also includes Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who visit the sick and homebound with the Eucharist usually every two weeks.
Volunteers are welcome to either of these ministries. Contact: Sister Theresa Frere, IHM, 301-843-8916 ext 17, firstname.lastname@example.org.
