"Go then and make disciples of all the nations..." (Matt.28:19).
The mission of St. Peter’s Evangelization Committee is to identify ways to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, with special emphasis on those who may not understand Catholicism or have not experienced the good news of Jesus. The work of this committee is guided by the Archdiocese of Washington’s implementation plan for Go and Make Disciples: A National Plan and Strategy for Catholic Evangelization in the United States, passed by the U.S. Bishops in 1992.
In September, 2008 a Catholic Information Booth was sponsored at the 2008 Charles County Fair and named as the Fair's Best Non-Commercial Display. The Good News of Jesus Christ was made available to visitors through informational pamphlets, balloons for children, and a large banner featuring each of the Catholic churches in Charles County. An award-winning video produced by Southern Maryland Catholic school children about our Southern Maryland Catholic heritage played throughout the weekend. Over 500 pieces of literature and CD's were distributed and more than 500 balloons given away. People found parishes, Spanish masses, and answers to many questions.
